Can’t play the Flv files format from Windows server 2003 (IIS 6)

Yesterday, the development team have a problem when they tried  to host a FLV files to using as video gallery website in a windows 2003 server. They asked me to give a solution for this problem. By default, the flv type does not work with windows 2003 server IIS. In order to accommodate their request, I need to registered flv file in IIS 6 windows 2003. After googling searching solution for this problem, I found a way to registered FLV format to the IIS 6. So here’s the solution :

  • Open the site to configure in IIS. Right click and select “Properties”

  • Click the HTTP Headers Tab, select “File Types” under the MIME Map section, and then click “New Type”. Enter the following:
  • Click “OK” and close the IIS Properties box
  • You may need to restart the WWW Publishing Service
